Moving around
The types of AT covered here aims to facilitate the user in all aspects of moving themselves from one place to another.
Hoists
Allows users to get into and out of baths, beds, chairs, and on and off the toilet, etc. usually with assistance of at least one carer
Motorised beds
Assists the user to sit up or lay down in bed
Motorised chairs
Assists the user to stand up and sit down in the chair
Outdoor vehicles
Gives users the independent ability to make jouneys
Powered wheelchairs
Usually gives a user independence in moving around indoors and sometimes outdoors
Stair lifts
Allows users to travel up and down stairs in buildings where there are no elevators
