Monitoring my activity
The products described in this section are used to provide a check on a person's daily lifestyle. They can allow family members or care providers to check that things are okay with the person they care for. Some of these products use different devices positioned around a person's home to collect information about what a person is doing (e.g. whether a person has eaten or the amount of activity)
Daily Safety Confirmation
These products allow the daily status of a person living at home to be checked to make sure things are okay.
Monitoring my Activity
Monitors the daily activities of a person using a range of sensors placed around the home. These products are used to look for abnormal changes in a person lifestyle which may indicate a problem with their health or a change in their care requirements. Typical things which are monitored include movement in and between rooms, use of appliances, and changes in sleeping routines.
Movement detector (PIR)
Detects how if someone has entered/exited a room. It is used to monitor the level of activity. These are usually mounted high on walls and sends out a small infra red beam. Some products can detect if a person has been unusually inactive for a set period of time and send an alert sent to a monitoring centre
Occupancy sensor
These products monitor the use of different types of furniture, like bed or chairs. They can be used to generate alerts of a person has not returned to bed after a set time period (in the case of a fall) or not risen from bed after a certain time in the morning. It can send an alert sent to a monitoring centre. Some of these products are also used to monitor the daily living of a person.products These are usually pads placed underneath the mattress of a bed or the cushion of a chair.
Property exit/Door Contacts
These systems detect and send an alert if someone has left their dwelling or room when it is not appropriate or it may be dangerous for them to do so. Some of these products may be suitable for people suffereing from dementia.
