HICA Profile
All of our homes provide high quality specialised care for residents with a broad range of care needs. These range from residents with memory impairment who require a lot of support to those who are more independent. In addition to this HICA provides nursing care, respite care, holiday care and day care services.
Our homes for adults with learning disabilities provide a comfortable, appealing and homely environment for its residents who can have a broad range of needs from those who can enjoy semi-independent living in our self contained flats to those who require a little bit more support and prefer to be within the main premises of the building. Although our ultimate aim is to encourage as much independence as possible for our residents with learning disabilities they do have the comfort of knowing that whatever support and care they need HICA can accommodate it.
Two of our homes have reached the finals of the National Care Design Awards. This achievement emphasises our commitment to our residents, not only in the environment that they live but also by the uncompromised level of services that are offered. The Heartbeat Award for healthy menu choices and the Roy Castle Clean Air Award for smoke free rooms are further examples of HICA's commitment to a high standard of service.
In addition to our attainment of the Heartbeat Award, more recently a Chef from a HICA Care Home beat off competition from hundreds of entrants to the National Association of Care Catering's award to take the title of Care Cook of the Year 2006 which entailed a "cook off" if Birmingham.
More recently HICA were the runner-up in a prestigious national awards scheme with Skills For Care Accolades in the category for Best Employer for Continuous Professional Development. This is the third time HICA Care Homes has been in the finals out of four years the accolades have been running and reflects HICA's track record of success in employee training and development.
HICA is very clear in its belief that technology should be used to support care staff and not take their place and decision to be involved around this project focuses on that. We wish to use our experience to forge the direction of new technology so it is, at its best, unseen in obtuse however supportive of our values and principles in delivering person centred care.
