Planned Outcomes
To meet the programme Objectives, the ACT programme will deliver several outputs and results for the South Yorkshire region:
- New Assistive Technology and Telecare (ATT) products and applications and the expansion of the ATT market
- Expanded sales: which will in turn secure existing jobs and create new jobs for the South Yorkshire workforce in ATT manufacture and delivery and social care delivery
- Knowledge and technology transfer from University of Sheffield/Barnsley Hospital companies in the region - and among the companies themselves
- Raised awareness of potential ATT applications and markets
- Increased business awareness of the commercial value of product R&D and international market intelligence
- Increased capacity of business to carry out effective R&D
- Increased R&D investment and jobs
- New linkages between companies and business sectors
- New and existing collaborations with University of Sheffield/Barnsley Hospital researchers and business created and expanded
Specific targets for Programme success
The following targets will be attributable to ACT Programme activities in the South Yorkshire area:
- 14 completed Research and Development projects
- £4m increase in ATT business sales
- 45 jobs created
- Change work practices and procedures in 15 Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs)
- 85% client satisfaction rate
